About Me.

My Mixed media and its development

It was the 1970’s and my art foundation course did not teach watercolour painting.

While I was studying my B.A. Hons in industrial Ceramics a fellow student had a bijou box of water colours.

I was entranced by their vivacity and transparency, this was brilliant for designing glass (glass blowing was included in this course)  also ceramics especially, creating designs for tiles.

It was a light bulb moment  when some one taught me how to use a plain white candle on the texture of the watercolour paper to create light on the distance in an ocean.

Well the texture that I was working on within my ceramics teamed up with this water colour technique and I was away!

This style of painting is so popular with art society talks and workshops that I have travelled the country presenting them.

It’s a forgiving method that is enjoyable for beginners and the very talented painters enjoy it as a change where they can still incorporate their own style.

During lockdown I transferred this tuition on to Zoom and wrote detailed lesson plans to aid my students along the way.

These lesson plans have been very popular since and the student has the  opportunity to enjoy my tuition with out travelling a great distance.
