September nature observation

Elderberries ripe and juicy on fabulous magenta stems. The leaves were fading into autumn pale greens and yellows.

A 24 pack of Crayola crayons had just the right colours for this project.

The black crayon was melted then splattered on to the paper.

The magenta stems were drawn into join the dots (so to speak) and yellow green crayons were perfect for the foliage.

Water colour mixes of cerulean, lemon yellow and Viridian were added in dilute washes and the wax colours shone through.

Great fun leading to more ideas.
